Welcome to the online press kit for GiveADog.org and Pets Alive!
Animal lovers can save a dog's life this holiday season through GiveADog.org
NEWS: Rob Thomas Press Release
With many people seeking a simpler, more meaningful holiday season, GiveADog.org (http://www.giveadog.org) offers the perfect gift for dog lovers everywhere.
This unique foster care program for dogs is offered through Pets Alive Animal Sanctuary in Middletown, New York. It allows people to save dogs that would otherwise be destroyed.
For almost 30 years, Pets Alive has specialized in rescuing, rehabilitating and placing needy animals, with a special focus on neglected, abused and special needs animals rejected by other organizations.
GiveADog.org allows people to give their loved ones the gift of a dog without the responsibility of feeding, walking, and cleaning up after the pooch. The effort is especially timely now, as many animal shelters fill in January with puppies and kittens abandoned by people who can't handle the responsibility of caring for them.
Through GiveADog.org animal lovers can follow their dog from being rescued to Pets Alive's no-kill sanctuary to the animal's eventual permanent home. Here's how it works:
For $39.95 (all but $2 of which is tax deductible) each recipient gets a thank you card perfect for stuffing in a stocking. After choosing a dog from among many waiting to be rescued, each recipient gets a beautiful certificate announcing that they have saved the dog.
Each recipient gets an account at GiveADog.org where they can go to follow the progress of their dog. Once or twice a week they will get email updates about their dog. A personal Web page shows the status of their dog, pictures of their dog, notes about their dog and a place to communicate with Pets Alive staff about their dog. They can even see videos of their dog.
Each animal lover follows their dog's progress through the journey at Pets Alive. This includes their dog's intake and examination, settling in, being matched with another dog and playing and being walked. Pets Alive provides a narrative of staff and volunteer care. Recipients learn about the different families looking at the dog and when one is chosen to adopt it.
Gift recipients will know that they truly saved a dog's life and helped to find each animal a permanent home. What better gift could there be for a dog lover?
